The textured dial is inspired by the ridges of Mount Iwate, seen from the Shizukuishi Watch Studio where all Grand Seiko mechanical timepieces are made. Its deep colour reflects the beautiful mountain scenery illuminated by moonlight on a starry winter night.

This hi-beat watch is powered by the revolutionary Calibre 9SA5, which offers a power reserve of 80 hours due to its enhanced energy efficiency, as well as a pioneering date-changing mechanism which uses MEMS technology for a faster, more precise date change.
Calibre 9SA5 incorporates three significant developments: the entirely new Dual Impulse Escapement, the Grand Seiko free-sprung balance with overcoil and the horizontal gear train. These three elements together set a new standard in high-beat horology.
