Grand Seiko SLGH021
Grand Seiko ‘Genbi Valley’ Hi-Beat Limited Edition
£9,750
Description
This timepiece features a new dial pattern design, inspired by the colours of the Genbi valley landscape. This is one of Japan’s natural monuments, near to the Grand Seiko Shizukuishi Studio where wild vegetation flourishes in the valley’s ravine along the Iwai river through the Iwate prefecture.
In an Evolution 9 ‘Ever-brilliant steel’ case, the box sapphire glass showcases a light vivid green patterned dial, with silver-coloured hour and minute hands and blue steel second hand. The crown, bracelet and clasp are also crafted from ever-brilliant steel. This watch, created in Evolution 9 style, represents a Grand Seiko design evolution from its heritage 1967 44GS model with nine modernisations made in aesthetics, legibility and comfort. The classic Japanese theme of interplay between light and shadow echoes the original on its hairline and Zaratsu-polished surfaces.
The exhibition case back showcases the in-house Hi beat 9SA5 movement, accurate to +5/-3 seconds per day with a power reserve of 80 hours. This timepiece is only 11.7mm in depth, giving it a sleek and sophisticated appearance.
Every Grand Seiko features signature high standards of precision, durability and legibility, handcrafted in Japan by Takumi artisans.
