Grand Seiko ‘Tokyo Lion Tentagraph’ Hi-Beat Automatic Chronograph
£14,800
Description
Grand Seiko launched in 1960 and since its inception, the brand’s signature lion symbol has been emblematic of the ambitions of Grand Seiko Takumi watchmakers. With the goal of making the “king of watches,” the Takumi aimed to craft a watch that was as precise, durable and beautiful as possible.
Inspired by the lion itself, the new textured dial pattern conceptualises the movement of a sprinting lion with its mane trailing in the wind.
The case design, angular bezel and bold set of hands and indices, each diamond-cut, evoke a lion’s claw with powerful, sharp, Zaratsu-polished surfaces.
The new paw-like chronograph pusher is designed for easy operability, whilst the gently curved case surrounds the wrist for comfort. Its newly-developed rubber strap has 2.7 times the tensile strength of silicone, paired with a new high-intensity titanium clasp and an underside inspired by a lion’s paw.
In a first for the Sports Collection, the Brilliant-Hard Titanium construction is brighter than standard titanium, enhancing its Zaratsu polish. Lightweight and corrosion-resistant, Brilliant-Hard Titanium has double the hardness of stainless steel.
Blending the recognisable Tokyo Lion design with the world-first Tentagraph movement, the ‘Tokyo Lion Tentagraph’ is powered by an in-house built 9SC5 Hi-Beat chronograph calibre – the ten-beat chronograph with the world’s longest power reserve when first introduced in March 2023. Named for its “TEN beats per second,” “Three days of power reserve,” “Automatic,” and a “chronoGRAPH,” the 9SC5 is accurate to +5/-3 seconds per day.
Every Grand Seiko features signature high standards of precision, durability and legibility, handcrafted in Japan by Takumi artisans.
